Box compression (BCT) calculator

The bottom case on a pallet carries everything above it. Product2Pallet estimates its box compression strength with the McKee formula and compares it with the real load.

McKee formula

Box compression is estimated from edge crush (ECT), board thickness and case perimeter — the industry-standard method used by packaging engineers.

A sensible safety factor

We apply a ×3 factor for storage time, humidity and handling, so a pass means a real margin, not just a number on paper.

Know the minimum board

If a case is too weak, we tell you the minimum ECT needed so you can talk to your box supplier with confidence.

Frequently asked questions

Is BCT the same as ECT?

No. ECT measures the board; BCT measures a finished box. BCT depends on ECT, board thickness and box size.

Should I still test real boxes?

Yes. Calculations guide your choice; compression testing real cases confirms it.
